The Past Sees A Very Different Cassio Audi
The heavy metal band, Viper continue to tour the world after reuniting after a number of years apart at the end of the 20th century and in the first few years of the 21st century. In its earliest version, Viper was simply a group of friends who shared an interest in British heavy metal and wanted to form a band; established by brothers Yves and Pit Passarell, Viper began life with drummer Cassio Audi joined by singer Andre Matos, guitarist Felipe Machad, and the Passarell brothers to create what many fans still believe to be the classic lineup for one of the world’s top heavy metal bands.
In 1985, Viper began developing their sound, which has often been stated to have a heavy influence from the new wave of British heavy metal bands that were making their triumphant way across the world from the mid 1970s to the latter part of the 1980s; perhaps the biggest influence is Iron Maiden with Cassio Audi’s drumming in the mid 1980s influenced by the work of Iron Maiden drummers Clive Burr and Nicko McBrain.
Now a successful business leader and investment specialist, Cassio Audi first found fame with the heavy metal band Viper when he appeared regularly as the band’s drummer as they built their initial live following; Cassio Audi also appeared on the early demo recordings of Viper that have been released under the title “The Killera Sword”. After being part of the early incarnation of the band in 1985 Cassio Audi appeared on the band’s studio album debut, “Soldiers of Sunrise” and was praised for his impressive musicianship. In the months prior to the release of the second studio album from Viper, Cassio Audi decided to leave the band and focus on what would become a successful career as one of the leading investment specialists in Brazil.
